Homework/Assignments – Week 9

Week 9: 2nd November – 6th November

First Class

Homework:

  • Addition tables +7
  • English spellings: rot, dot, got, pot, cot, bob, rob, jog, cod, pod, dog and fog.
  • Reading: Pages 22, 23 and 24 (Read one page a night, see powerpoint.)
  • Supplementary reading: Read a short poem each night on the powerpoint and book folder book.
  • Mental Maths: Ask your child oral maths questions like the example given below between 1 and 20 focusing on subtraction for this week. Please use the laminated number line provided this week at home with your child. This can stay at home for use at home. Use subtraction maths language with your child such as: minus/ subtract/ take away/ less/ difference.
    • What is 12 -3 = ☐ (Cover 12 on the number line and count backwards 3 steps. Where do you land? )

MS. O’LOUGHLIN
Second Class

  • English Spellings: neat, seat, cream, dream etc. Learn four spellings each evening.
  • Addition: 10+tables
  • I have given four comprehensions for the week. Read one comprehension each night. Answer questions orally.
  • Gaeilge: 8 spellings for the week. Learn two each evening.
  • Grow in Love page 16&17. Discuss the page and write answers in copy which can be kept at home.
  • Cairde le Chéile pages 20&2
  • Readers will be sent home in a folder each week. That book is to be kept at home for the week and returned on Friday with the folder.

The children will be tested on their English spellings, Irish spellings and tables every Friday. All work will be prepared in school.
